The Club
Hibiscus Coast Sun Club Incorporated has its roots in the North Shore Nudist Club (Incorporated), formed on 24 April 1974. The club took its current name on 13 July 2005.
According to the Companies Office Incorporated Societies Register (Inc. No. 224170, NZBN 9429042644668), the club remains a registered, active incorporated society. It has filed annual accounts in most years since 1995, most recently for 2025, and completed an Application to Reregister as an Incorporated Society in September 2024 — part of the transition every society in New Zealand has had to make under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
Beyond these filings, little current information about the club is publicly available. It does not appear to operate its own website, and its listed officers on the public register have not changed in the twenty years since 2005 — which may simply reflect a filing that hasn't been kept current, rather than an unchanging committee. The Land and Buildings
The club's grounds, known as "Kirikau," are located at 230 West Hoe Heights, Orewa. Historical naturist directories describe the site as including a clubhouse, swimming pool, and camping/caravan facilities, set on several hectares of grounds.
The land itself has a long and, at points, complicated paper trail. It was purchased by the club (then still North Shore Nudist Club) in 1978, and the club held it in its own name for over three decades. Public land title records show it was subdivided in 2019, with the clubhouse site becoming its own 2.9047-hectare title (Lot 8, DP 530856).
We're aware — from land title records — that registered ownership of the grounds changed hands during the 2010s, moving from the club's own name into the names of individual members. We don't yet have a full picture of how or why that happened from the club's side, and we'd genuinely welcome help filling in that gap from anyone who was involved in club governance during that period. The Website & Contacting HCSC
Hibiscus Coast Sun Club Incorporated does not currently appear to have an active website, and we have not been able to locate any working public contact details for the club.
At some point the club maintained a page on Google Sites, at sites.google.com/site/hibiscuscoastsunclub, with sections that appear to have included "About Us," "Contact Us," "Club Rules," and "News." That page has since been deleted — visiting the address today returns a genuine Google 404 ("The requested URL was not found on this server"), even when signed in. No archived copy could be located via the Wayback Machine either, so we haven't been able to recover what the page said.
A postal address (PO Box 128, Orewa) appears in older business directory listings, but we have no way of confirming whether it's still monitored. Beyond that, we don't currently have a phone number, email address, or any other reliable way to reach the club.

Membership
Public records don't tell us much about the club's current membership, activities, or how to join — which is part of why we're building this page. If you're a member, a former member, or you used to visit Kirikau, we'd love to hear from you: what the club is like today, whether it's still active on the ground, and how people can get in touch to join or visit.

Update: We Spoke With the Club
16 July 2026
After publishing the sections above, we managed to make direct contact with Hibiscus Coast Sun Club — so we can finally update some of the gaps we'd flagged.
The club is still operating. A club spokesperson confirmed HCSC is active today, with a membership of around twenty. The club is not affiliated with the New Zealand Naturist Federation.
Membership works differently than we expected. The club only accepts couples, in order to maintain a strict gender balance among members. Prospective members need to visit at least twice before they can submit a formal application. If the club approves that application, new members then serve a one-year probationary period, during which they aren't able to vote at club meetings.
On the land: the spokesperson told us the Kirikau property is protected by a trust, with the stated purpose of ensuring the land continues to be used for the club into the future. They also described a number of land covenants in place to protect the site's natural beauty and regenerating native bush — which lines up with land covenant entries we've independently found on the property's LINZ title records, registered in 2016 and 2019.
